Congratulations to Ben Aberson!  He was recognized as South O'Brien's highest academic achieving senior at the 2016 Governor's Scholar Recognition ceremony on May 1 in Des Moines.

While at the State BB Tourney, 6 South O'Brien students posed for a picture in the High Octane Fans Photobooth. Their picture was selected as one of eight winners. The students were Courtney Rehder, Katelyn Tewes, Whitney Sickelka, Wiley Sickelka, Amanda Litka & Maycee Smith.
( PMCI stands for Petroleum Marketers and Convenience Stores of Iowa. The Paullina Dyno's is a member of this group.)

The athletic boosters and the high school baseball team will hold their annual youth baseball camp on May 14  from 1:30-3:00 PM. It is open to all K-7 baseball players. Registrations are due by April 26.  Registration forms can be found online. Go to the baseball website via the school website; then click on the forms/links tab.

The boosters and the baseball team have also started their apparel fundraiser. There are many options to choose from and the design is really sharp. The order forms are due by May 2. Order forms can be found on the baseball page located on the school website.  Thanks for your support!

Peanut allergies
An allergic reaction can be life threatening.
All of South O’Brien Elementary has been designated as peanut allergy aware. Practices have been put in place to help prevent student exposure to peanut products.

Free or Reduced Price School Meals
You can apply for free or reduced price school meals AT ANY TIME. Forms are available in either officeor in the August online newsletter.

The South O'Brien FFA accepts old cell phones which will be sent in to be recycled. FFA also collects WIX filters box tops.
