Kellie Einck was named the National Christopher Columbus Fellowship Foundation Winner in Agriscience sponsored by the American Farm Bureau through the National Association of Agriculture Educators. Kellie receives a $1000 scholarship and a trip to Washington D.C.
The South O'Brien FFA Soils Judging Teams took first and second places at the NCC-SWCD-Western FFA Sub-District Soils Evaluation Workshop/Contest held Tuesday, May 7. Top 10 individual results were: Eric Koehlmoos-Champion, Wyatt Sickelka-Reserve Champion, Luke Hoger-3rd , Dylan Riedemann-6th, Karlene Negus-8th, Brian Haden-9th.

Luke Hoger and Kellie Einck were selected as FFA State Star Finalists -- Luke in Agribusiness and Kellie in Agriscience. They will be interviewed at the Iowa FFA State Leadership Conference in April for a chance to be named the Overall Star in their category.

The South O'Brien FFA Soils Team placed 8th out of 30 teams that advanced to the Iowa FFA State Soils Evaluation Career Development Event this past Saturday. Wyatt Sickelka, Karle Negus, Chase Fuhrman and Dylan Riedemann were only 3 points shy of placing 5th and advancing to Nationals. This was South O'Brien FFA's 17th straight trip to State in this event and kept their streak of 10 straight Gold ratings intact.
The South O'Brien FFA District Soils Team placed 1st out of 13 teams on Sept 26 and advanced to the Iowa FFA State Soils Evaluation CDE for the 17th year in a row. Wyatt Sickelka--Champion Individual, Chase Fuhrman--Reserve Champion Individual, Karle Negus--3rd Place individual & Dylan Riedemann--5th Place individual. Dylan tied for 4th but lost the tie breaker. The state event will be held Sat, Oct 6 in Ames.

State Meats Judging
South O'Brien FFA members participated in the State FFA Meats Evaluation event held Sat Aug 25 at the ISU Meats Lab.Wyatt Sickelka, Kellie Einck & Emma Sweeney were on the State Champion 4-H O'Brien County Team. Wyatt was Champion Individual, Kellie Einck Reserve Champion & Emma 3rd place individual.
Austin Rohrs, Eric Koehlmoos, Libby Wagner and Andrew Richter were on the State Champion FFA Team. Austin was the Champion Individual for the 2nd year in a row, Eric 5th, Libby 6th & Andrew 15th.
