South O'Brien Elementary

ALL - SCHOOL PEP RALLY at 2:15 on Friday, March 6
The Elementary staff and students will be bussed to Paullina to attend the pep rally. Students are encouraged to wear black and silver! The rally will last no longer than 25 minutes and then the elementary staff and students will get back on the buses and return to Primghar.

Students will be dismissed from school in Primghar as usual after returning from the pep rally.  If you plan to pick up your child either in Primghar or Paullina before or after the pep rally, you need to send a note to your child’s teacher.  If you plan to pick up your child from the pep rally in Paullina, you should try to meet your child’s class at the busses immediately after the pep rally at about 2:40.  The busses will be parked in the parking lot on the south of the school in Paullina. Bags, snow pants, etc. will all be on the school busses…so we can get your child’s supplies and you can check your child out with his/her teacher.

To help us get everyone to the correct places,  please make sure your child’s teacher knows about any changes of plans for Friday due to the pep rally by Friday morning at 8:45 am. Due to everything going on and all the excitement, teachers may not be able to check email, etc., after that…thanks so much.

We have students in South O’Brien Elementary with Peanut allergies.
We invite your help and cooperation to help them stay safe.

An allergic reaction can be life threatening.

The following practices have been put in place to help prevent allergic reactions:

All of South O’Brien Elementary has been designated as peanut allergy aware.

There will be no classroom projects with peanut butter, or anything that contains peanuts or tree nuts. Please do not send any of these projects into the classroom with your child.

Parents who send a lunch from home for their child are free to pack the foods of their choice. It is our hope that families CHOOSE not to send foods containing  peanut butter or any nut product.

All students eating a lunch from home will be seated away from the students with the peanut allergy, and will be given a wipe to use on their hands and table area after eating lunch.

Please remind your child not to share their food or eating utensils with others.

We ask that all foods including snacks or special occasion treats entering the building at any time not contain nuts of any kind.  A list of acceptable snacks/alternative items has been sent home with students.

All multi-ingredient snacks (crackers, cookies, cupcakes) sent to the classroom must be purchased with a content label that the teacher can read, or it will not be distributed to the students.

We look forward to working together with you to have a wonderful year at South O’Brien Elementary.  If you have any questions regarding our allergy aware policy, please call us at 712-957-3755.
